Two Decades of Building Sustainable Peace
Never Again Rwanda (NAR) is a peacebuilding, governance, and social justice non-governmental organization established in response to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. NAR works to empower Rwandans with opportunities to become active citizens who contribute to sustainable peace, inclusive governance, and development. The organization places particular emphasis on youth, recognizing them as key actors in shaping a peaceful and resilient society.
With over 23 years of experience, NAR has grown into one of Rwanda’s leading national organizations in peacebuilding and governance, playing a significant role in laying foundations for peace, social cohesion, and inclusive development.
Since its establishment in 2002, NAR has implemented programs focused on peacebuilding, governance, and human rights. Over time, the organization expanded its work to include research and advocacy as strategic tools for promoting inclusive governance and sustainable development. Through evidence-based research and citizen-centered advocacy, NAR has emerged as a thought leader in advancing citizen participation approaches and strengthening civic engagement in Rwanda.
Never Again Rwanda was established in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to ensure such atrocities never happen again. Our mission is to build peace, promote social cohesion, and foster a culture of remembrance. We continue to uphold 'Never Again' — working tirelessly toward unity, peace, and social justice for every Rwandan.
